Town 0 - 0 Orient

Town were without Reddy and Newey (injured), and Parkinson (dropped), with Cohen, Croft and Kalala coming into the team. It was Crofty's 200th game in a Mariners' shirt.

The atmosphere was electric, with the travelling Mariners taking the early honours in the noise creation stakes.

There was a scare for Town in the warm-up as Mildenhall seemed to turn his ankle on the rough Brisbane Road pitch, but he came out for the match.

Gary Jones was penalised for a tackle rather harshly, but Whittle dealt with the kick.

There was an appeal for handball as an Orient defender played it on to a colleague's arm.

Macca lifted the ball in towards Gary Jones but he couldn't get in on the end to get in a shot.

The game had started in an exciting fashion, with Town probably just edging possession in the first ten minutes, and the Town fans still bossing the atmosphere.

Orient piled the ball into the Town box four times, but the Mariners defence dealt comfortably with each one, and then Connor was penalised for backing in to Rob Jones, but Mildenhall's free-kick sailed over Gary Jones.

Orient had the first proper shot of the game on 16 minutes, but Mildenhall was up to the task and saved comfortably.

Macca was struggling with what looked like a hamstring injury, and Barwick warmed up, while on the pitch the ten fit men carried the ball forward with Goodfellow finding room to try to get Gary Jones in.

After 20 minutes, Macca was replaced by Junior Mendes, with Mendes taking up the position of Cohen, and the former Gretna man dropping to right-back.

Gary Jones, playing on his own up front, won a free-kick for the Mariners and the big men went forward as Woodhouse took the kick, but his delivery was too close to the Orient keeper.

Orient replaced Barnard with Justin Miller.

Mendes beat his man, and as he crossed the ball was knocked out for Town's first corner, which was met by Kalala who scooped the ball out.

Alexander became the first yellow of the afternoon after he left his foot in on Rob Jones.

Croft went on the overlap and crossed, but Goodfellow was on the end of a crunching challenge, but it was Orient who broke away, until pressure was relieved on Town's defence when the Mariners won a free-kick. Cohen became Town's first booking when he kicked the ball away after 34 minutes.

Town played some good football to take the ball from one end of the field to another, before Jones almost made himself a chance with Garner just claiming the ball.

Town's next attack saw the sub Miller having to concede a throw, but Gary Jones was judged to be offside and finish a short period of Town pressure.

Goodfellow tried a long-range effort as he spotted Garner off his line, then Bolland whipped the ball in only for Mackie to concede a throw.

Goodfellow picked up the ball two minutes into time added on, then Jones, Kalala and Mendes were involved as Gary Jones failed to find the target.

Half-time: Town 0 - 0 Orient

There were no changes at half-time.

Orient won an immediate free-kick from Whittle, and then Orient had two men down in the aftermath of the set piece.

Kalala won Town's first free-kick of the new half, taken by Crofty, and Woodhouse volleyed an effort well off target.

Town's defence had a scare from a quick free kick, but they managed to get the ball out for a corner, and Rob Jones cleared. Kalala went away with the ball, and fed Mendes, whose cross was deflected at the near post and required a save from Garner in the O's goal.

Alexander went down in the box as Rob Jones took the ball well, and only the Orient fans appealed for the penalty.

Then Rob Jones needed to concede a corner 8 minutes into the half, but Mendes got it away to Kalala, and as the ball came in Crofty stuck to his task and won a goal-kick for the Mariners.

On 55 minutes Kalala was replaced by Parkinson, and in his first action he almost gave Gary Jones a chance with the keeper taking the ball off the big man's head.

Orient won a couple of free-kicks from which they didn't make any headway, and as Jones went up for Mildenhall's kick he claimed to have been held by Mackie. The referee did give a free-kick though when Cohen was next held by his arms, and from the free-kick Rob Jones couldn't quite get his foot round the ball for a shot.

Orient brought on Ibehere for Connor.

Jones flicked on Mildenhall's goal-kick towards Parkinson, but he couldn't save it from going out for a goal-kick. Then Mendes got away, and Mackie fouled Gary Jones by hurling him to the floor, for which the Orient man received a deserved yellow. Marc Goodfellow lined up the free-kick, and he smashed it over the top of the near post.

Mendes skipped past a couple of Orient defenders but was robbed by the third defender as he made for goal.

Gary Jones fired in a shot as the linesman signalled Mendes offside.

Ibehere faced Rob Jones and got his shot away but Mildenhall saved and found Goodfellow who went on a great run but his pass to Parkinson was just beyond the Town sub.

Orient were given a disputed corner, cleared by Mendes, and then out for a Town goal-kick.

Orient replaced Alexander with Lee Steele.

Simpson was booked for Orient with 15 minutes to go.

Town won a free-kick but again Garner collected.

Town won another free-kick with 9 minutes of normal time to go, Cohen aimed it towards Cohen, but it was Parkinson who got the shot on target, only to see Garner save comfortably.

Orient's Miller took a long throw, launched into the Town box, but as Rob Jones headed away, the referee had seen an infringement and Town had a free-kick through Mildenhall.

Mackie fouled Gary Jones again, as Town's frontman signalled "ten times", but the free-kick came to nothing.

Cordon drove the ball over the bar as normal time ran out, and three minutes added time were signalled.

Jones brought in Mendes on the left as Orient raced back and a Goodfellow chip hit the crossbar with the keeper beaten, and then Parkinson, Jones and Goodfellow combined as Goodfellow had a golden opportunity with 30 seconds still to go.
