Town 1 - 3 Wycombe
Wycombe started the game undefeated in the league, with Town undefeated away from home for the last 10 league games - a club record. Grimsby though had only beaten Wycombe on one occasion in all competitions.
Wycombe started at full speed and within a minute the home side could have taken the lead, but with four minutes on the clock Reddy went on a trademark foray and was pulled down in the box, but Referee Russell decided that it was a fair tackle.
Mooney - so often the clinical finisher against Town - beat Macca after 7 minutes and fired in a shot which Mildenhall saved comfortably.
Betsy cut in from the right, and this time Mooney slipped the ball just 12 inches the wrong side of the post.
By the quarter-hour mark Town had only had one serious attack. Apart from that it had been all one-way traffic, with Wycombe already on 3 corners to Town's nil.
Parkinson found McDermott, and the cross was met by Gary Jones whose header hit the bar ... the nearest either team had come to scoring!
Reddy forced Turner into a save after taking the ball past his marker, and within seconds of that chance Gary Jones was on the end of another header, but disaster struck as Ramsden tried to whack the ball clear at the other end, the ball ricocheted off Whittle and ...
Goal!: 19:39 ... Griffin was presented with an open goal, and accepted the offer!
Two minutes later the Town fans were celebrating ... too early ... as Reddy got a foot in, and with the keeper beaten the ball headed goalwards, but didn't have the legs, and Keogh managed to prevent the ball crossing the line.
Toner then crossed the ball, but it went right the way across the goal with no-one able to apply the finishing touch.
Parkinson got past two players and found Reddy, with his cross high to the far post where Gary Jones headed goalwards, but it was easy for Turner.
Bolland went on a run, and passed to Parkinson who lost control, but he came again and centred to Cohen who was beaten by the bounce of the ball.
Goal!: 35:01 Betsy got behind Newey for the first time, and found Matt Bloomfield eight yards out to knock the ball home to put Town two down.

Goal!: 36:47 The ball down off a defender, and when it came to Reddy he hammered a volley into the corner of the net! It made Reddy the top scorer at the Club.
Reddy was then denied again in a one on one as the Mariners tried to get back on terms before half-time. Gary Jones went in on Rob Lee, who many thought made a great deal of the foul, and the referee booked Jones after a long lecture. The Town men were annoyed that Wycombe gained five yards during the lecture, and it took quite some time for the man in charge to organise the free-kick.
Two minutes of added time was signalled as Town mounted an attack with the ball being stroked round the team until Parkinson lifted the ball over the Wycombe goal-line.
Half-time: Town 1 - 2 Wycombe
Mildenhall brought off a great save from a header to keep the Mariners in the match early in the second half. There was a shocking tackle on Toner by Keogh, as the Town man was in full flight, Newey's free-kick going down the middle, but all that resulted was a clever piece of play by Mooney to get Betsy away.
Wycombe broke at speed, and this time Ramsden conceded a free-kick which was cleared.
Cohen did well to stifle a Wycombe attack as the pitch looked to be freezing with each passing minute.
Gary Jones sent Reddy on a chase, but after he had passed the ball it was cleared by the Chairboys.
Macca was then pulled down and Newey was presented with a shooting opportunity from 25 yards, which the goalkeeper saved. Toner came forward but the move broke down when Parkinson lost control.
Parkinson then tried a long shot which was just wide, after 63 minutes.
Gritton replaced Jones on 63 minutes.

Gritton had the chance to make a difference seconds after he came on, as Cohen slipped the keeper leaving Gritton to slot the ball in from the edge of the box. Immediately Mildenhall had to be at his best to save in the top corner of the goal, and then Mildenhall was again in action saving from a header following a corner.
Whittle had stayed up after a Town free-kick, and there was an amazing opportunity as Senda directed the ball towards his keeper with Whittle almost being given a golden opportunity to put Town back on terms.
After 68 minutes Martin replaced Lee for the home side.
Gritton got past one challenge, but the second challenge came in and stopped his progress.

Newey was booked for a foul on Betsy.
A minute later Newey pulled Betsy back, and the referee just gave the Town man a lecture, though any thought of good luck was soon dispelled ...
Goal!: 76:56 from the free kick Roger Johnson stole in to head home.
Less than a minute later Parkinson had the chance to pull a goal back but his shot was well off target.

With ten minutes to go, Gary Croft replaced Newey, and Andrew replaced Gary Cohen.
Reddy won a corner when his shot was deflected by a defender. Parkinson took the kick, but Wycombe broke away.
Full-time: Town 1 - 3 Wycombe
