17 year old Ryan Bennett came in for Justin Whittle who pulled his hamstring training.
Town started the game with a 4-4-2, North and Jones the strike partnership.
Town were without the suspended Gary Croft. Peter Till and Danny Boshell had both shaken off injuries and took their places in the side.
Both sides showed their intentions to pass the ball on a near perfect pitch.
There was an early scare for the Mariners when Bennett made a mistake, but with the Barnet player slipping he managed to recover and clear the danger.
North broke sprung the bee's offside trap, skipped clear, but by the time he had picked out Jones in the middle, Barnet were back in numbers and the danger was snubbed out.
And Town took a deserved lead on 26 minutes. McDermott and Till combined well down the right, with Till sending over an inch perfect cross to Gary Jones who headed the ball back across goal and firmly past the keeper.
After a collision in the Town box, Toner was forced to leave the field, being replaced by Nick Hegarty.
Birchall got away down the right, but his effort from a tight angle was well wide of the far post.
But the Mariners doubled their advantage on 39 minutes. North and Hegarty combined well down the left, and Hegarty's deflected pass fell nicely for North who hit a low shot to Harrison's left , giving the keeper no chance.
Half-Time: Town 2 Barnet 0
No changes by either side at half time.
Town started where they left off and were soon on the attack.
Till's cross was nicely headed on by Jones, but former Town player Paul Warhust cut out the danger with North lurking.
A great ball by Newey picked out Bolland down the left, and his ball found North. Unfortunately for Town his effort was gathered by Harrison.
Peter Till then picked out Boshell's head but the Yorkishire man's effort was just wide.
Bailey went close for Barnet, and Boshell and then Bolland had to make blocks the keep the Bees out.
Boshell was fouled just outside the Barnet box. Boshell himself stepped up but his powerful shot was blocked by the Barnet wall.
Jones did well to set up Hegarty, but the unmarked midfielder saw his powerful shot was straight at the keeper.
Bennett, who had been outstanding for Town at the heart of the defence, did well to come out and block a shot from the edge of the box.
Town continued to dominate proceedings and on 72 minutes North added his second and Town's third.
Hegarty's corner was met at the near post by North who knocked the ball past the helpless Barnet keeper.
McDermott left the field to rapturous applause and was replaced by Bloomer.
Peter Till made way for Andy Taylor.
Some more sloppy marking by Barnet allowed Nick Fenton to head home from a corner on 80 minutes.
It should have been five soon after. Taylor burst through the Barnet defence, fed North who's side foot was somehow saved by Harrison's outstretched leg.
But North wasn't to be denied his hat-trick and he completed the scoring on 90 minutes. Taylor was brought down in the box and North stepped up to send Harrison the wrong way.
