John McDermott was recalled in the Town defence at the expense of Matt Bloomer who started the game on the bench.
Illness victim Danny Boshell was named amongst the subs also. Gary Jones kept his place in a 4-4-2 formation.
The first chance fell to Bury's Bishop who went past Fenton, but his cross was too easy for Barnes to gather.
North picked up the ball on the left, cut inside before putting in a curling cross towards the far post. This was missed by everyone and found its way inside the far post to give Town the lead.
Wroe almost equalised when his effort from the edge of the box was parried by Barnes The ball dropped to a Bury player but his shot was blocked.
On 24 minutes Town found themselves two up.
From a free-kick, Newey delivered into the box for Whittle and Fenton at the far stick. The ball was cleared to Toner lurking just outside the box who hammered a right foot volley past Warrington into the top right hand corner.
It was almost three soon after when Jones nodded on for North who, with just the keeper to beat, fired over the crossbar.
And Jones volleyed just wide before Town had the ball in the back of the net on 35 minutes, but this time it was chalked out for a push in the area.
There was a great move down the right involving Bore and North, but Bore couldn't find the finish to match and he screwed his effort wide.
Town had a good chance on 56 minutes. Toner's cross was nodded on by Jones to Bore, but by the time he got his shot away a Bury player was on hand to block and clear the danger.
Soon after Fenton's first time effort clipped Warrington's right hand upright.
Barnes ensured that Town wouldn't have to sweat out the last 25 minutes as he pulled off a fine save to deny Kennedy.
James Hunt was replaced by Danny Boshell on 70 minutes.
Town again went close when Jones' header was just wide.
Peter Till replaced Peter Bore for the fiansl 10 minutes of the game.
It was the Mariners' fifth win in six games, and was another three points closer to safety.
