Macca's last home game

City started the better of the two sides in what was an evenly matched final game of the season at Blundell Park.

PAUL Bolland failed a late fitness test and was replaced by Gary Harkins in midfield.

Ryan Bennett kept his place in the Town defence, despite Justin Whittle being fit again.

Both teams lined up as a guard of honour to mark John McDermott's last home game for the Mariners.

Town started the game with a 4-4-2 formation with North and Jones again being the Mariners' strike partnership.

Lincoln had the first effort on goal when Jamie Forrester's effort from 12 yards went over the crossbar.

Toner and North combined well and Fenton's goal bound shot was blocked by The Imp's defence.

And former Town man Junior Mendes saw his header held by Barnes

Till did well on the right before switching play to Toner, The former Lincoln player cut inside and his powerful shot was just over Marriot's bar.

On 40 minutes, a swift move down the left saw Tom Newey exchange passes before curling a shot just past the far post, with North almost getting on the end of it.

Right on the stroke of half time the Imps were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the Town box after a foul by Bennett.

Ryan's kick curling around the Town wall but just over Barnes' bar.

Half-Time: Town 0 Lincoln 0

On 51 minutes a powerful effort by Mendes was held by Barnes.

Mendes was replaced by Frecklington on 54 minutes.

A great run and cross down the right by North picked out the head of Gary Jones in the middle but his header was held by Marriot.

Andy Taylor replaced Gary Harkins as Town looked to turn the screw.

On 77 minutes Bloomer's shot from 25 yards out was held by Marriot.

On 80 minutes North broke through but his shot was punched away by Marriot.

From the resulting corner, North almost got on the end of it but Marriot managed to grab it.

More later . . .
