With Paul Bolland and John McDermott still sidelined through injury, Town boss named the same side that won at Barnet on Tuesday.
Two goals from Martin Paterson brought the Mariners their third league win on the bounce as they overcome a resilient Shrewsbury side 2-1.
Paterson netted in the 38th and 72nd minutes to take his tally to four goals in three games. The Shrews had levelled in the 53rd minute through Michael Symes.
Chances were at a premium in the first half but the Mariners took the lad through dangerman Martin Paterson . Paterson picked the ball up in his own half, played the ball to Hegarty, Hegarty put the perfect pass back through to Paterson to finish into the far corner.
On the stroke of half time, after a good move down the Town left, Paterson almost scored again. Newey and Hegarty combined with Newey's cross being headed down by Jones for Paterson who saw his effort well blocked by the Shrews keeper.
The visitors, despite having some decent possession in the first half, didn't really trouble the Mariners in open play, but looked very dangerous from set plays.
One minute over time was added at the end of the first half.

Town almost increased their lead at the start of the second half. Jones played the ball out to Till who cut inside before finding Paterson who, from an acute angle, got a shot away but it was saved by Shearer.
Asamoah almost equalised with a shot which fizzed across the Town goal before scraping the far post.
GOAL! On 53mins the Shrews were level though. Asamoah got away down the right, his deflected cross fell nicely for Symes to tap home.
It took a good save by Barnes to deny a Davies free-kick on the hour.
The Mariners brought on Gary Harkins for Nick Hegarty and Isaiah Rankin replaced Peter Till, as Town looked to get back into the game.
GOAL! Town did find their way back into the game and regained their lead on 72 minutes through Paterson. Paterson's run was halted after he was felled on the right flank. The initial free-kick was cleared but Newey hoisted the ball back in to the box, Fenton's header found Paterson out wide. He went past his man before hitting a speculative shot which was deflected past Shearer into the net.
Paterson had a late chance for a hat-trick. The Stoke loanee found Jones whose shot was beaten away. The ball came back to Paterson, who from just inside the box, fired over the bar.
Four minutes were added at the end of the second half as Shrewsbury pressed for the equaliser.
Town held on for the win and moved up to 16th in the League 2 table.
The only bad news for Town is that Nick Fenton's second half booking, his fifth of the season, which will see him suspended for next Saturday's showdown at Lincoln City.
