You can see Alan Buckley in action on the field at Blundell Park this Sunday. Kick-off 12 noon.

TOWN boss Alan Buckley was absolutely delighted after seeing his side emphatically beat Barnet 3-0 this afternoon.

Two first half strikes by Danny North and a second half strike by Andy Taylor sealed a deserved three points for the Mariners.

He said: "It was a very professional performance today.

"I thought that they had the better share at the start of the game, and then Northy scored a real poacher's goal for us.

"To be honest, before Andy scored the third one, I thought we should have wrapped it up. We had two or three really good clear-cut chances to go three up.

"We've kept a clean sheet and we've scored three goals away from home. It could have been four or five goals away from home.

"At 1-0 up we weathered one or two of their corners and long throws, looked very solid defensively.

"Then Northy scored a really good individual goal, robbed the lad and went clear. He took it brilliantly.

"It was 2-0 at half time and I was very pleased with that. I knew that they would come at us in the second half -they did last year.

"But I did think, the same as last year, that we would get our chances on the break."

Buckley surprised a few people by handing new signings Sam Hird and Rob Atkinson their debuts, but the Town boss says that they not just here to make up the numbers.

" I thought that the two new lads did fantastically well for us. It is the first time that they've met some of our players - other than training on Thursday and Friday.

"I didn't really bring them in as cover because they both played today. My intention was to play them.

"They certainly had to come along to help our numbers but I know they are better players than just numbers - they have more ability than that."

He continued: "We've come away to Barnet today who have had a really good start to the season, had some good cup results and we've won 3-0. We've now played five games, three against opposition from a higher league than us, and we've only being beaten in one.

"That was by a decent Morecambe team. If we had played like that against Morecambe last week we would have won that aswell."

More reaction and extended highlights of the game will be on Mariners World on Monday.
