TOWN striker Danny North has been named the Powerade Player of the Month for January.

Four goals in five games last month earned Northy his nomination.

The youngster, who came through the ranks at Blundell Park, is really showing his worth helping the Mariners to eleven points in January and to the Northern Area Final of the Johnstone Paints Trophy.

The 20-year-old was on target twice against Chesterfield before scoring against both Wrexham and Shrewsbury recently.

Anthony Elding (now Leeds), Glenn Poole (Brentford) and Tommy Wright (Darlington) were also in the running.
