(Thread) Chairman UTM2007 WRONG

Extracts picked on and skewered from the Chairman's Wembley program page.

This season alone, the football club has needed a cash influx of £365,000 from the directors over and above its projected revenue just to stay in business. It's really quite miserable being a director of a football club in that sense.

In terms of cash inflow and outflow, the £400,000 we anticipate making from the Johnstone's Paint Trophy run will enable us to be neutral for the season.

There are no 'by rights' in football, but there is a ladder of income.

Arguably our club fits at the top of League 2 or the bottom of League 1, so for the club to stay in the Championship for 11 out of 12 seasons from the early 1990's was truly commendable and a credit to Alan Buckley who got us there.

I work at the Club and note this.

The chairman has put 365k into the club this season and while the Wembley money has been returned to the FL a further 160k.

The chairman has never done anything than to support each and every manager either while he has been the chairman or just a director.

There is constant calls for him to come clean and keep the fans in the loop. And if he says nothing he is accused of keeping things from the fans. But when he does he is either said to be spitting his dummy out, wanting credit or threatening something by twisted / mischievous responses.

The chairman is on record, not once but many times calling for new blood to join the board, even further he noted publicly not so long ago. If there is some one out there he would step aside in the best interests of the club.

Questioning his support I find frustrating he again has explained some simple logic.

· This new money will balance the books.

· How he sees football income and as such and where the club should be on positional in that pecking order. The by right ladder as he calls it.

Facts he has put in 365k this year alone plus a further 160k only last week. Naturally the latter will be paid back cash flow permitting and when we receive the Wembley money.

In all of the time at the football club I have never see these amounts of money backing the club.

Up to December 1999 all board members had 25k bank guarantees only in the club and little more before that. The current chairman was part of that board before the club was taken over.

When the club was taken over it was kept running by selling Ashcroft and Lester not by directors funds.

"The only time the club has had funds injected and large ones was when the club had entered into large contracts by others which became unaffordable by the time ITV failed on football.

The profile of the club has never fitted administration because it has never owed enough.

The debts have all been associated with contracted player costs which remain in place even after administration. In our case honouring football contracts entered into before the current chairman rejoined the board of directors became the ultimate problem which he has seen us through. Apparently no one else wanted to.

As for the 51% control. shareholders were of told of how he was thrown off of the board in December 1999 at a time when the new stadium was derailed. Blocks of shares changing hands (green eyed monsters).

He asked the shareholders to support his request to purchase a controlling interest so that the current stadium relocation hopes could not be derailed in the same way again.

Additionally the club is under immense pressure to reduce its overdraft facility at the bank due to the credit crunch.

Like it or not we fall into a bad tick box at the bank.

And furthermore the club has to pay back 207k to the Inland Revenue all in the next season.

It is the manager who recommends players and the chairman who supports or not and there is absolutely nothing that tells me that the manager will be refused any funding support next season."
