TOWN boss Alan Buckley doesn't expect that Gary Jones will be with the Mariners next season.

Jones, who recently had surgery on a troublesome ankle, missed Town's run in and is currently recuperating at his home on the Wirral.

Buckley told Mariners World: "Jones has had his operation and he's okay.

"His family moved back to the Wirral around Christmas time and he has been living near here on his own.

" I said to Jonah, I thought that he would probably make a decision himself - deciding that he will probably go and play his football over by the Wirral.

"That's what I expect him logistically to do."

And Buckley says that fellow striker Martin Butler will be at Blundell Park next season.

Butler, who was seeking a move away from the club because of the long travelling time between his home in Worcester and the town, has since warmed the Town faithful to him after bagging 6 goals in 15 league starts for the Mariners.

Buckley said: "Martin will be here next season. It is not a question as far as I'm concerned, Martin has a contract with us until the end of next season."
