Tilly originally joined the Mariners on loan from Birmingham City in November 2006 but had such an impact on the right side of midfield that his move was made permanent.
Till stepped down two divisions to play regular football and is hoping to enjoy success at Blundell Park. He has also had loan spells in the past at Scunthorpe and Boston.
Till cited the footballing style of boss Buckley as a major factor when he decided to make a permanent switch from the Midlands.
After an impressive pre-season this could be his year.
